HOMEMADE TOOLS

I like to make small tools...

Two marking knives of 01 tool steel and cocobolo.

Another marking knife/awl, this one made from a spade bit with a tiny sliver of Bloodwood for the scales...

An Awl made from a Stanley chisel with purpleheart handle…

Another Awl made from a chisel on the left and an Awl made from a Perfect Handle screwdriver which had the blade broken off.

This is my winged spokeshave, the blade is homemade of 01 tool steel and the body is hard maple. This is the first shave I’ve made. But it won’t be the last.

This is my bowsaw, it is made of Brazilian Cherry. The  blade is a piece of bandsaw blade. The design is “BugBear’s Bowsaw” and is a much renowned and copied design.

This is a little saw I made from a piece of another handsaw. I still need to file new teeth on the blade.

Here are a couple of mallets I’ve turned the one on the left is a purpleheart head with bubinga handle (or it may be Brazilian Cherry) and the one on the right is walnut from a tree down the road from my house.

This is the wooden mallet I use around the lathe area...

This is a little purpleheart plumb bob that I turned and used a commercial kit for the brass parts.

This is a homemade collet and handle for my needle files.

COME BACK AND CHECK THIS SECTION OUT AGAIN SOME TIME, AS I WILL KEEP ADDING TO IT…
