SMALL SAW HANDLES

So here are the project saws, bought from a catalog I haven't ever liked the handles on the large and small tenon saws and my wrist has never liked bayonet saw handles.

Starting in the center of the photo, I made a handle for the small dovetail saw, this is detailed in my Dovetail Saw project piece. This is the handle I made, it is Honduran Rosewood, and is based on a pattern in Kingshott's MAKING AND MODIFYING WOODWORKING TOOLS.

Next up was the dovetail saw just below the center saw in the picture above. Once again I am using the same basic pattern and then modifying it to suit my hand. This handle is Bubinga...

At the bottom of the picture of the project saws is what I have always called a Razor saw. I felt that this saw was to small for an open handle, so I chose to make a modified bayonet style handle. This handle is African Blackwood.

Now we're getting to the tenon saws; first up would be the small tenon saw. For this handle I chose a piece of Goncolo Alvez. I think it makes a very striking handle.

The last saw to get a new handle is the large tenon saw, for it I am going to use Paduuk. Same pattern to start  with and then I just shaped it to suit myself.

That completes this set of saws but there are more that need handles so I'll be making more.
