RE-HANDLING A DOVETAIL SAW
This is a nice cutting little dovetail saw, needs to be sharpened otherwise it's not a bad little saw. But as you can see someone cut the handle off. Actually I've decided to convert this saw from bayonet handle style to an open handled saw.
Punching holes...
This is the handle design I've chosen to use, it is from Kingshott's book "Making and Modifying Woodworking Tools". I have modified it somewhat because of the small size of the blade.
Drilling the radiuses...
Cutting it out.....(for safety the saw isn't on, as the camera is in my other hand!)
The blank ready to start cutting for the blade and spine and shaping...
The saw nuts and cut lines established, some shading to indicate shaping...
A pile of parts, oh yeah, I'm going to make more than one handle. The saw nuts pictured had to be shortened almost a 1/4" to be used.
It's beginning to take shape....
I like this a lot better!!!! roy
